Looking slick, kid.

What you need to know
Minecraft on Windows 10 just turned on the first beta adding ray tracing with RTX.
To commemorate the milestone, one Minecraft player took things to the next level.
They recreated the original Minecraft trailer from 8 years ago, with RTX ray tracing.
It shows just how impressive the tech can be, while staying true to Minecraft’s roots.
Ray tracing in Minecraft is finally here, and it looks gorgeous. It’s definitely a big moment for Minecraft, and represents the first time we’ve gotten a legitimate graphical or visual upgrade for Minecraft besides mods, shaders, and negligible changes and tweaks over time. To celebrate, Reddit user LaffenGas recreated the original Minecraft trailer with RTX ray tracing.

The original trailer was released over 8 years ago, and while it wasn’t anything to write home about, it was still an important step for Minecraft, which was already exceeding everyone’s expectations and exploding in popularity at the time. Now, all these years later, Minecraft is the best selling game of all time. Seeing the trailer reproduced with ray tracing’s stunning lighting effects (especially any time water is involved) is a surreal experience, and it’s an impressive job from LaffenGas making it all come together.

If you want to watch the newly created trailer, you can check that out here. If you want to learn how you can get involved with Minecraft’s new ray tracing visuals, check out our guide here.

Otherwise, what did you think of the new trailer? Does it make you nostalgic for the old days, or excited for the possibilities of the future?
